The Tree Lover: Jan Feng-chun, Taiwan’s First Female Tree Surgeon

Born into a farming family, Jan Feng-chun, whose father was a university gardener, has had a connection with trees all her life.
Jan, who has a PhD in environmental design from the University of Tokyo, not only holds a Japanese license as a tree surgeon, but is also licensed in ­Japan to work as a “nature restoration promoter” and to perform soil assessment and amelioration. She is Taiwan’s first fully qualified female arbor­ist.

On February 7, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those three new cases (Case #926-928) arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia, Ghana, and the United States.

NDC issues 2,000th Employment Gold Card for skilled foreigners

The National Development Council handed out three more Employment Gold Cards to foreign professionals in Taiwan on Friday. This brings the total number of the cards the council has awarded up to the 2,000 mark. The first card was issued three years ago.

As the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals reaches three years in effect, the issuance of Employment Gold Cards tops 2,000!

Today, the National Development Council (NDC) held a celebration to mark the issuance of the 2,000th Employment Gold Card in the three years since the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals (“the Foreign Professionals Act”) came into effect in February 2018.
