On August 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that Taiwan received a notification from Lao authorities through International Health Regulations (IHR) National Focal Point that a traveler tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after he had returned to Laos from Taiwan. The CECC stated that the case is a Lao man in his 30s. The Lao man took a COVID-19 test at his own expense in Taiwan on August 10, and he tested negative.
