On the morning of May 5, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the Women in Sports International Photo Awards ceremony and Sports Diplomacy: Taiwan-USA Collaboration on Building the Asia-Pacific Gender Equality in Sports Exchange Platform. In remarks, President Tsai pointed out that Taiwan and the United States share many values and that we are both working hard to make gender equality a reality.

On the morning of April 21, the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC) held a press conference at the Presidential Office to officially announce that the “Spend A Night @ Taiwan’s Presidential Office Building” program is open for registration through June 30.

On the afternoon of April 19, President Tsai Ing-wen attended an International Holocaust Remembrance Day event and delivered remarks, in which she said that Taiwan is working with our international partners to advance religious freedom, fight discrimination, promote gender equality, and advocate for human rights and democracy. The president also expressed hope that we can leave a better and more inclusive world to future generations.

President Tsai Ing-wen said April 6 that Taiwan is committed to deepening partnerships built upon the spirit of mutual support and shared values with its diplomatic allies.

On the evening of April 7, President Tsai Ing-wen returned to Taiwan after the conclusion of her trip to Guatemala and Belize, and delivered remarks on her visit at Taoyuan International Airport. President Tsai thanked all involved in the trip for working together to help the international community see that pressure and threats only make Taiwan more united, and emphasized that Taiwan will neither yield to pressure nor let obstacles stop us from engaging with the world.

On the evening of March 30 local time (morning of March 31 Taipei time), as part of the “Meeting Democratic Partners, Fostering Shared Prosperity” diplomatic trip, President Tsai Ing-wen attended an event held by the Hudson Institute, where she accepted the institute’s Global Leadership Award from Board of Trustees Chair Sarah May Stern and President and CEO John P. Walters.

At noon on March 29, President Tsai Ing-wen delivered remarks before embarking on a 10-day visit to allies Guatemala and Belize. During this trip, the president said, we intend to show our determination to foster deeper exchange and cooperation with our allies, and specifically, she added, we want to convey three clear messages: First, Taiwan stands firm in its defense of our values of freedom and democracy and will continue to act as a force for good in the international community.

Vice President Lai Ching-te attended the opening ceremony of the Net Zero City Leaders Summit March 28 in Taipei City, pledging to work with Taiwan’s partners around the world to address challenges and crisis due to climate change, according to the Presidential Office.

On the evening of March 17, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 2023 Spring Banquet for foreign ambassadors and representatives stationed in Taiwan. In remarks, President Tsai thanked the ambassadors and representatives for speaking up for Taiwan at many international events and raising Taiwan’s international profile.

The World Baseball Classic got underway March 8 at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in central Taiwan after a two-year postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
