Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi attended the 28th ASEAN-Japan Summit in Malaysia on October 26. During the event, she reiterated that peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait were important issues that directly impacted regional security. Prime Minister Takaichi added that attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by force or coercion must not be tolerated. Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung appreciates and welcomes these statements.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore issued a press release on October 25 stating that Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong reiterated during his meeting with Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang that Singapore had a clear and consistent “one China policy” and was opposed to Taiwan independence.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly hosted an event for recipients of the 2025 Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship programs Oct. 20 in Taipei City, according to the MOFA.

At the Cabinet’s weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) report on a comprehensive program to develop the drone industry, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). The premier said that amid global geopolitical shifts, secure and trusted supply chains are becoming increasingly vital.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung called for expanded cooperation among Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines in response to regional challenges.

The strong support of the global community for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the International Civil Aviation Organization is sincerely appreciated by the government and people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Oct. 14.

Regarding comments made by China’s Foreign Ministry after President Lai Ching-te’s National Day address, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) solemnly reiterates that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) stand on equal footing, with neither being subordinate to the other. This is the objective status quo. It is also a reality that is recognized by the international community and a strong consensus held by the people of Taiwan.

Support from the global community for Taiwan’s bid to participate in the activities, mechanisms and meetings of the U.N. is sincerely appreciated by the government of Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oct. 3.
