Australian Indigenous artwork presented to Taiwan’s prehistory museum

To highlight the partnership between the Australian Office in Taipei and the National Museum of Prehistory (NMP), Australian Representative Jenny Bloomfield selected an Australian Indigenous painting from her personal collection and gave it to the museum as a token of appreciation for the long-term cooperation and to express her gratitude to NMP Director Wang Chang-hua (王長華) and the museum staffs for their support.

Taipei Asian Judo Open 2023 Kicks-off at Taipei Gymnasium

The Department of Sports (SPD) joined hands with the Chinese Taipei Judo Federation to organize the Taipei Asian Judo Open 2023 at the Taipei Gymnasium on July 1. A total of 173 athletes from 18 countries and administrative region including South Korea, Macau, Philippines, and Nepal competed during the 2-day-long competition.

2023 GMA returns with international business activities

The 2023 Golden Melody Awards & Festival (GMA), which will be held from June 28 to 30, kicked off its tenth-anniversary celebration with an opening ceremony at Corner Max in Taipei on June 27. After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the festival is resuming its domestic and international physical business activities for the first time.

Two Taiwanese artists to join Taiwan-AU choreography exchange program

Two Taiwanese artists, Lee Ming-chieh (李明潔) and Tian Zi-ping (田子平), have been selected to participate in the “2022-2024 Taiwan and Australia Choreography Exchange Program (臺澳舞蹈創作交流計畫).” This program, supported by the Ministry of Culture, is made possible through a collaboration between the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney, the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB), and Australia’s Critical Path.

Young Researchers from Academia Sinica Invited to Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2023

The 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting will be held from 25–30 June 2023. Around 40 Nobel Laureates will be invited to meet 635 young (35 years of age or less) scientists from all over the world to engage in face-to-face discussions. Young scientists who had been selected for the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and took part in the digital meeting are invited to participate on site.

Taiwan maintains Tier 1 status in US anti-human trafficking report

For the 14th year in a row, Taiwan has been assessed at Tier 1 in the U.S. Department of State 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report, reflecting global recognition of government efforts to protect human rights, according to the Ministry of the Interior.

MOEA co-hosts 2 online CoP seminars with Asia LEDS Partnership

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in cooperation with the Asia Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (ALP) jointly organized Community of Practice (CoP) online seminars on “Promotion Policy of Offshore Wind” and “Restoration Techniques of the Seagrass Meadows” oon June 6 and 13, respectively. The seminars attracted participants from a dozen countries to learn about Taiwan’s de-carbonization efforts.

Indigenous Taiwanese film ‘Gaga’ to be screened at Sydney Film Festival

Indigenous Taiwanese film “Gaga (哈勇家),” directed by Golden Horse-winning Atayal filmmaker Laha Mebow (陳潔瑤), will be screened at the Sydney Film Festival, the most renowned movie event in the Southern Hemisphere. From June 7 to 18, the festival will showcase over 200 films from 67 countries, with “Gaga” being featured as part of the “First Nations” category. This marks the first-ever Taiwanese indigenous film to be selected for the festival since its inception in 1954.
