Taichung City won the only international Smart 50 Awards recognition with “Air Quality Sensor IoT” in East Asia

To celebrate the influential smart cities worldwide, Smart Cities Connect started to hold the annual event of “Smart 50 Awards” in 2018. Taichung City, which joined the 2022 Smart 50 Awards with “Air Quality Sensor IoT”, has a blockbuster result this year! It stood out from almost 200 applicants around the world and received the honor of the “Smart 50 Awards”.

2022 GO SMART Day - A New International Smart City Platform with Innovative Solutions

The 2022 GO SMART Day organized by GO SMART (Global Organization of Smart Cities), the Taipei City Government’s initiative, was conducted on March 23 in Taipei. This is a three-in-one event with 2022 GO SMART Award Ceremony, GO SMART Assembly and “Contactless Tech in the New Normal” Forum in one day. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je, the chair of GO SMART, welcomed the city and industry members from all over the world via video presentation.

While Smart City Summit and Expo (SCSE) is now the largest smart city tradeshow in the world, one of its biggest spotlights is the Mayors’ Summit, which has been co-organized by Taipei City and Taipei Computer Association since 2014. The platform engages city leaders worldwide in sharing how smart technologies bring about new opportunities and convenience for cities.

This year, the Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE), long regarded as the largest smart city tradeshow in Asia, is taken to the next level as the top scale smart city in the world. The show’s Smart City Mayors’ Summit has even become the largest smart city summit that engages the largest number of city leaders, a significant accomplishment since Taipei City Government joined hands with Taipei Computer Association (TCA) to organize the event in 2016.

Composed of 30 representatives to Taiwan from 22 countries, the Diplomatic Corps and Commercial Personnel arrived in Tainan on Dec. 13. They were accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tien Chung-kwang. This is the delegation’s second visit to Tainan in two years. Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che personally welcomed the group with Deputy Mayor Tai Chien.

​DOE Receives ANZCham Business Award for Bilingual Education Program

Despite the global COVID-19 outbreak in 2021, the Department of Education (DOE) continues to promote cross-border bilingual teacher training programs and international student exchanges with the help of technology and remote learning. For its effort, the agency received the ANZCham Business Award at the ceremony at Shangri-la’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel on November 16.

Taipei Advances to Fourth Place in the 2021 IMD Smart Cities Ranking

Taipei City Government has invested many years into the development of a smart city. The effort has won numerous recognitions from the international community. The Smart City Index 2021, recently published by the IMD Business School, ranked Taipei City fourth globally and second place in Asia. This honor once again confirms the city’s accomplishments in this area.
