President Tsai Ing-wen lauded the achievements of Team Taiwan’s delegation to the 2022 WorldSkills Competition during a special event at the Presidential Office in Taipei City Dec. 12, spotlighting the government’s commitment to cultivating professional excellence.

President Tsai Ing-wen said Dec. 10 that Taiwan is committed to safeguarding human rights and promoting transitional justice to redress past judicial wrongs and maintain a democratic way of life.

On December 10, Human Rights Day, President Tsai Ing-wen addressed the 2022 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award ceremony via video at the invitation of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy. President Tsai commended this year’s award winner, the US-registered non-governmental organization Fortify Rights, for their persistent efforts to raise awareness in the international community of the conditions faced by the Rohingya people.

In response to the US government's announcement on December 6 (US EST) that Congress has been notified of a US$428 million military sale to Taiwan that includes standard and non-standard spare parts for various aircraft, Presidential Office Spokesperson Xavier Chang (張惇涵) stated that the Presidential Office thanks the US government for once again taking concrete steps to fulfill its security commitments to Taiwan in accordance with the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six Assurances.

On the afternoon of December 2, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by World Medical Association (WMA) President Osahon Enabulele. In remarks, President Tsai thanked the WMA for its longstanding international advocacy in support of Taiwan and our World Health Organization (WHO) participation.

On the morning of November 21, the Presidential Office held a press conference for our delegation to the 2022 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) upon its return to Taiwan.

This year's APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM), hosted by Thailand, concluded at noon on November 19 (Taipei time). Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) founder and Leader's Representative Dr. Morris Chang participated in the full meeting and conveyed Taiwan's ideas and positions, successfully completing his mission for the AELM.

On the afternoon of November 17, ahead of his departure for Thailand to attend the 2022 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) on November 18 and 19 in Bangkok, APEC Leader's Representative Dr. Morris Chang delivered remarks on his trip. Dr. Chang said that he hopes to accomplish the tasks given to him by President Tsai Ing-wen, stated that he will use the opportunities presented by the trip to exchange views with other leaders at the meeting, and expressed hope for a productive AELM.

On the morning of November 16, President Tsai Ing-wen met with a delegation led by Lions Clubs International (LCI) President Brian Sheehan. In remarks, President Tsai expressed hope that under Mr. Sheehan's leadership, Lions Club members in Taiwan and LCI will engage in closer exchanges and cooperation to serve Taiwan and the global community.

On the morning of November 3, President Tsai Ing-wen met with participants in the 2022 Taipei Security Dialogue, hosted by the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR). President Tsai said that INDSR was founded four years ago as a national-level defense think tank to give us a more comprehensive grasp of changes in the strategic landscape and to strengthen dialogue, cooperation, and exchanges between Taiwan and other countries in the region.
